Before running any tests or trusting specifications, looking carefully at appearance gives you an early signal of whether you’re working with a responsible packaging materials supplier. Here are visual criteria that every vendor quality check should include before approving PET strapping roll for use.
Observer the colour of PET strap:the colour is uniform signals consistent raw material blending, quality resin, and controlled additives .

Straps should lie flat; warping, twisting, or curling indicate internal stresses or uneven cooling which can degrade performance in automated strapping machines or under tension in transport.

Look for hairline cracks, especially when you bend a small segment. Micro-fissures suggest brittleness, possibly due to low-grade PET bottle flake, too much recycled content, or poor thermal history.

Take a length (1-2 meters if possible), place it flat. Does the strap remain flat or curl up?
A strap that curls significantly under its own weight likely has internal stress which may lead to uneven load performance under working tension.
Pinch or fold at a segment and watch for minute cracking or breakage at the fold. If the material shows brittle failure, it lacks proper ductility for industrial packaging conditions.

As part of enterprise procurement, always keep a “gold sample” from a trusted roll for comparison. Use this as your benchmark for color, gloss, flexibility, markings, etc.
