What Is Steel Strapping?

Steel strapping, also known as steel banding or steel metal strapping, is a cold-rolled steel packaging material designed to secure, bundle, reinforce, and transport heavy products. Compared with plastic strapping, steel strapping offers higher tensile strength, better impact resistance, and greater reliability for rigid, sharp-edged, or high-compression loads. Blue Tempered & Waxed

 
Blue steel strapping adopts a special non-leadheat treatment process. At the same time, the formation of bluing film on the surface of the steel strapping and then coated a layer of water wax to form the double protection. 1. Regular Duty Steel Strapping

 
Regular duty steel strapping is designed for standard industrial packaging applications where loads are stable and extremely high break strength is not required. It offers reliable bundling performance with good cost efficiency, making it suitable for general-purpose use in metal products, construction materials, and other medium-load packaging operations.
 

 

  

3. High Tensile Steel Strapping

 
High tensile steel strapping is used for heavy-duty packaging applications that require higher break strength, stronger retained tension, and better resistance to transport shock. It is commonly used for steel coils, wire rod, metal bundles, and other demanding loads where strap failure or load shifting must be minimized. In many standards, high tensile grades achieve higher minimum tensile values but may offer lower elongation than high-elongation grades, so they are best suited to rigid loads where maximum holding power is the main requirement.

 

  

2. Regular Duty Plus / Medium Tensile Steel Strapping

 
Medium tensile steel strapping provides higher strength than regular duty grades while maintaining stable handling performance. It is suitable for heavier loads or applications where stronger load containment is needed, but where full high tensile performance may not be necessary. 4. High Tensile & High Elongation Steel Strapping

 
High tensile and high elongation steel strapping combines strong break strength with greater elongation performance, allowing the strap to better absorb impact and dynamic load movement during handling and transportation. This type is especially suitable for shock-sensitive, high-value, or unstable loads where both security and flexibility are critical. In European classifications, this performance logic is reflected by types such as high tensile–high elongation and medium tensile–very high elongation, while Chinese and ASTM-related procurement decisions also commonly evaluate elongation together with tensile strength.

Elongation shows how much a steel strap can stretch before breaking. In real packaging conditions, this matters because cargo is not always static. Individual Packing (if required)

 
For orders that require individual packing, the steel strapping rolls are individually wrapped with VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) paper during the production process. After that, all the rolls are placed on the pallets.
 

 

  

External Wrapping and Drying Agent

 
The entire pallet of steel strapping is then wrapped with VCI anti-rust film, and metal anti-rust desiccants are placed to prevent corrosion during transit.
 
 

 

  

Final Protection and Reinforcement

 
The outermost layer is covered with anti-rust neutral or customized kraft paper, and the entire pallet is secured with four steel straps to ensure it remains intact during transportation.

 

  

Loading into Containers
